Then Jesus came to them and said, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Dominican Republic Mission Trip 2010 and 2011

Praise God for His faithfulness.

During the last full week of January, 2010 a team of 6 went from our church to the Dominican Republic to assist medical teams on a short-term mission.

In January of 2011 another member went to the Dominican for 2 weeks. He joined with a team from The Chapel at Crosspoint, out of Buffalo, NY.

They spread the love of God in an orphanage for handicapped children; a makeshift nursing home villages; cities, and prisons.

Each year the team was responsible for raising financial and prayer support for the trip.

Each individual developed their own mailing list and sent letters out to family and friends.

Yard sales were held at Narraguagus High School with donated goods from several families and church members.

Friends relatives, and fellow Christians, joined together and supported the effort and provided much encouragement to the team(s).

The LORD provided for the entire support needs of the team(s) each year.

In 2010 a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti, the country that shares the Island of Hispaniola  with the  Dominican Republic.  The quake was on January 12, 2010 and the team arrived there on January 22.

After the quake, many, many items were donated to the team to take to the DR with them.  Items ranging from health and beauty aids to school supplies to Gospel tracts, and many medical supplies which were donated from 3 separate organizations on behalf of the victims of the Haitian earthquake.

The missions are coordinated through Score International who says:

SCORE International is a ministry to expose people to short term missions.

The purpose of SCORE International is to evangelize, encourage missionaries, and equip participants to do the work of foreign missions.

Our goal is to produce
career missionaries and/or create greater partnerships between local churches in the USA and foreign missionaries
.

God has allowed us to start churches as a result of dental/medical teams going to villages where there is no Gospel witness. Amazingly, entire populations of villages wait to see physicians and dentists. Once treated, these people are very open
to the Gospel of Christ.”

In 2011 a member of our church went again to the DR, this time for 2 weeks and for the first time SCORE was able to get the medical teams into 2 prisons there.

Some local pastors had been doing a work there and God was collecting souls as we saw many, many hungry souls come to Christ.

We worked in a city and some villages also and found it also eternally rewarding and it was amazing to be a part of the huge work God is doing in that country!

"Faithful is He who calls you, Who also will do it" (I Thessalonians  5:24)
